The Field Network

Seattle, WA

The Field/Seattle offers six Fieldwork sessions a year: two each in fall, spring and summer. The 10-week fall and spring programs are for “mostly writers” and “mostly performers.” Both summer programs are multidisciplinary. Beginning in 2009, our summer programs will be eight weeks long, so they can be contained between Independence and Labor Days.

History/Highlights

  • In 2007, we engaged The Shunpike, a Seattle-based organization, as our fiscal sponsor.
  • In June 2008, we held our First Annual Facilitators’ Workshop, led by Vanessa DeWolf. We met on consecutive evenings and had 11 participants, including five people preparing to facilitate their first Fieldwork sessions. We take satisfaction in having a number of experienced facilitators active in our organization, and hope to capitalize on this asset more in the near future.
  • In June 2008, we completed a draft of a comprehensive Facilitators’ Handbook, which we intend to produce as a completed document this fall.
